Throughout this journey while helping many fathers, many have asked, "Mr. Legette, how did you handle the stress while fighting for your daughter?"  My response, "A whole lot of prayer and meditating on certain biblical scriptures for strength."

I've learned during this incredible journey that in order for fathers to survive this emotional experience they must depend on a higher power and that power for me is God-Jesus Christ.  If I did not learn how to pray for myself and search the bible for words of encouragement I honestly don't know if I would have been able to continue fighting for my daughter.  However, because I did learn to pray, God provided me with the strength to continue and eventually I was awarded custody of my daughter.  I hope the bible scriptures below will be a source of comfort and strength for you during this time!

Bible Scriptures

Psalm 27:1

27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 31:24

Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
all you who wait for the Lord!

Psalm 105:4

Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually!

Isaiah 40:28-31

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 41:10

fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Ephesians 6:10

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
