FAYETTEVILLE, NC (June 24, 2010) – Eric Legette, CEO and founder of Fathers with Voices,
announced the organization’s national campaign to counsel 5,000 couples who experience “drama” caused by
the ex-partner of either or both spouses of a blended family.
“The
facts cannot be refuted,” Legette says. “Blended families are under fire, usually by the negative actions caused
by the ex-partner of either or both parents of the blended union. These actions include false allegations regarding abuse;
harassing phone calls; and can even lead to physical violence often resulting in the death of the husband, wife and even the
children.”
Though Fathers with Voices is an organization
that initially began to support separated/divorced fathers, a recent onslaught of calls from female victims caught in the
middle of “drama” persuaded Legette to expand his services to include support of families as a whole. “We
realized entire families are impacted by ‘drama’ often brought on by an ex-partner. This isn’t a male vs.
female thing; it’s a family thing.”
Legette knows the story
all too well. As author of the book, “Closing the Curtain on Baby Mama Drama,” an autobiographical account
of his own struggles with both the penal system and his oldest child’s mother, Legette has spent endless hours and monies
to obtain full custody of his child, which he eventually accomplished.
Fathers
with Voices will officially kick off its national Closing the Curtain on the Drama campaign with a workshop on Saturday,
June 26, 2010 at Faith Works Ministries, Inc., located at 3304 Spring Garden Street in Greensboro, NC.
The workshop will highlight effective methods as outlined in Legette’s latest eBook, “The
Couples ABC Guide: How to Face Conflicts with an Ex-Partner – Together,” an alphabetical account that provides
needed support and resources to couples impacted by “drama.”
“Blended
families have a hard enough time without the stress caused by an outsider. Add to that element the kids getting to know and
respect ‘a new sibling,’ the full nest syndrome and the financial difficulty often associated with additional
mouths to feed.
“The last thing these families need is an ‘ex’
throwing a curve ball…We’re helping families to survive.”
